Recipe for pinakbet

Article by Marlina hassan

The recipe for pinakbet is loved by native Filipinos, even though it?s more appreciated in the north. If your budget is low and you still need a hardy meal, pinakbet recipe is ideal for you. This wholesome meal is packed full of nutrients, and consist of vegetables like squash, okra or even eggplant.

Pinakbet recipe is cook till it?s shriveled into a delicious assortment of vegetables; this recipe is perfect for the cheap vegan. Most pinakbet recipes consist of bagoong which give it a unique taste. LLocos claims to have invented this Filipino favorite, somewhere near the sagada area.

I know some vegans who have fell in love with this recipe because the flavor stands alone, and the bitter taste of ampalaya, plus the over salty bagoong and the array of favorite vegetables give the pinakbet recipe a exclusive claim on greatness! Once you have tasted pinakbet you will never forget that fantastic Filipino flavor. I can say with confidence that most Filipinos working over seas still dream and miss original pinakbet. If you?re living in LA and looking for a good pinakbet recipe, or the unique ingredients that are needed to make the delight you maybe disappointed. Pinakbet is not hard to make, you can basically boil it (veggies) with fish and throw in a bagnet with beef or pork and you?re in business!

Pakbet (another term for pinakbet) means wilted or shriveled, the cooks in llocos prepare the vegetables at a very low temp to it begins to boil, some extremist add yams to contrast the salty taste from the fish. I adore lima beans with my pinakbet recipe. There is no best way to cook this recipe, it differs on your location in the Philippines, or if your a vegan or you love meat. I love smoke fish so me and my wife stick to the llocos recipe and add bagoong, and also lasuna!

I must warn you, if you have high blood pressure and you should not be eating high sodium foods, the LLocos version is not for you. The vegan version of Pinakbet is my absolute favorite and I can?t go a whole month without eating it. My wife who grew up eating this sultry dish can eat it everyday if I let her. She can also eat chicken adobo everyday but that?s another story or article in it?s self! So if you?re stuck on what to cook your beautiful Filipina wife, a good pinakbet recipe will always do the trick!
