Updated: June 4, 2013 4:57PM

LA GRANGE ? A 20-year-old La Grange man has been charged with aggravated battery to a police officer following an altercation during the carnival after the Pet Parade.

Martel Anguilar of 937 S. La Grange Road also was charged at 8:45 p.m. June 1 with two counts of resisting arrest and trespassing at the carnival along Harris Avenue west of La Grange Road.

He was being held June 4 at the Cook County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.

Police were called after Aguilar allegedly created a disturbance at the carnival and was told to leave but returned and caused two subsequent incidents. While attempting to flee from police, Anguilar allegedly collided with a police officer, who suffered injuries and was transported to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital.

Immediately before the parade ended, two groups watching the parade also got into a shoving match and had to be separated by police. However, nobody was charged in that incident as both parties claimed the other started the altercation. Nobody was injured.
